Administrative / Biographical History

The Scottish Theatre Trust Limited was incorporated in 1980 and registered in 1981 . It ran the Scottish Theatre Company, a professional touring theatre. It had its first full season in 1981. The first director was Ewan Hooper. One of the company's main functions was to encourage new Scottish writing. The company did not have its own theatre but presented productions throughout Scotland, including the Edinburgh International Festival, and abroad, including a tour to Poland. In 1983 Tom Fleming (b. 1927), previously of The Gateway Theatre and the Royal Lyceum Theatre, both Edinburgh, Scotland, took control of the company. The company went into liquidation in late 1987 . It was dissolved in 1991 .
