Correspondence, lists of works, accounts and other papers relating to Piper's dealings with Curt Valentin. Includes material relating to exhibitions of Piper's work held in 1948, 1950 and 1955, sales of paintings, prints and drawings, the publication of a book on Piper [probably S. John Woods, 'John Piper - Paintings Drawings and Theatre Designs', Faber and Faber, London, 1955] and a commission for a mural for the New Building of the Mayo Clinic, Rochester. Some correspondence concerns the death of Curt Valentin and the subsequent closure of the gallery. Also contains letters and papers relating to Durlacher Bros, 11 East 57th Street, New York, concerning an exhibition of Piper's work in 1957 and sales of his work; Piper's account with Curt Valentin was transferred here after the closure of the gallery in 1955.
