Scope and Content

Deeds and papers dating from 1611 to 1818, concerning land in Manchester, Blackley, Urmston and Newton. One series contains deeds relating to the Sandiforth family and land in Blackley, and another concerns the Beck family and land in Manchester and Newton.

The collection contains title deeds and related papers, including leases and releases, mortgages, probates and an inventory.

Administrative / Biographical History

The deeds, which have been arranged into four folders, were examined by John Parsons Earwaker (1847-1895) who provided the catalogue entries. Chetham's Library has no record of the deposit of this collection.
