The document was written on parchment by the notary John de Moussalde and it is bearing his authentification mark. It is written in a bastard hand, a hybrid between the formal text hands and the informal cursive. The first letter is ornamented.

Blackhouse charters catalogue description: 'Instument of Seasine upon a Vendition and Disposition by Sir John Park viccar of the Queer of Glasgow to Sir William de Hawk viccar of the said queer of a tennement with yard taill and pertinents Lying on the west part of the Drygate betwixt the tennements of Sir John de Lennox viccar of Selkyrk on the south and of the said Sir Wm. Upon the north parts for the yearly payment to the bishop and his successors in office of the uswall burgadge duties dated 3 Janry. 1440'.
