Seal of the city of Glasgow (fragment). Pendant on a tag.
The seal is a representation of the head and neck of St Kentigern wearing episcopal vestments and a mitre. On the right side is a branch surmounted in chief of a bird, on the left side is a handbell, and in the hand of the saint is a salmon with a ring in its mouth. the legend is inbetween raised borders: SIGILLVM COMVNE DE GLASGV.
The document was written on parchment by the notary Thomas Hugonis and it is bearing his authentification mark. It is written in a small pre-secretary cursive hand. The first letter is ornamented and the first words are written in bookhand.
