Scope and Content

Operated camera, mid distance. The first of a series of discussions featuring artists from the Company's history. Specially arranged to commemorate Rambert's 70th Anniversary. The subject of this session is the 1930's Ballet Club period. Jane Prichard (Archivist, Rambert Dance Company) chairs the panel discussion. The panel consists former dancers Dame Alicia Markova, Maude Lloyd, Elisabeth Schooling, Leslie Edwards and Leo Kersley. The topics discussed include: the first time they met Marie Rambert; working at the Mercury Theatre; specific productions and choreographers; and Marie Rambert as a producer getting work out of choreographers and dancers. At the end Jane Prichard talks about the Rambert related collections held by the Theatre Museum [later transferred to the V&A Theatre and Performance Collections].
