Notebooks and manuscript sermons of Thomas Robert Halcomb. One box (listed as LC/MS/HAL/1) consists of notebooks numbered 2, 9, 15, 17, 23, 27, 30 and 37, which contain notes relating to Gregory the Great, other aspects of early Mediaeval history and the history of the Church in Late Antiquity and logic. This fonds also includes a box file (listed as LC/MS/HAL/2) containing sermons based on biblical and Gospel passages. The box file also contains a printed copy of a letter to the Rev John Wordsworth, tutor and late Fellow of Brasenose College by Ingram Bywater, Fellow of Exeter College dated 30 November 1880 on whether the Petrean Statute of Exeter College (1566) was intended to make Exeter a 'College of Priests', which mentions Lincoln College's its foundation charter and statutes and compares them to the statutes of Exeter College. The cover of the box file notes other items, but they were not extant in the file or the Library at the time of transfer.
