Lincoln College Library Rev TR Halcomb's MSS Vol XXIII

Scope and Content

Volume 23 of Thomas Robert Halcomb's notebooks, which contains notes on the life of Gregory the Great. There is a handwritten note in pencil on the page opposite the first page of text in what appears to be a hand other than Halcomb's which describes the contents of the notebook, notes that there are fifteen blank pages at the back of the book, 'which were perhaps meant to be filled in with a description of monastic life according to the Benedictine monks [?]', contains an asterisk which explains Halcomb's mention of 'the last of Roman triumphs' on the first page as 'the triumph of Narses over the Goths (Gothic monarchy)' and also contains other notes and what appears to be a signature, possibly of the person who wrote the note.
