Scope and Content

Letter and photograph sent from Bismarckstrasse 48, Osnabrück, BRD. The photograph shows the bust of an unknown literary figure, which was made by the Italian painter Dyalma Stultus. The letter, though facetious in parts, is dominated by Hanckel's financial anxieties. He has retired, having sold his book dealership, and is living 'as a pensioner without a pension'.
