Letters sent from Prince Alexander della Torre e Tasso (von Thurn und Taxis, 1881-1937), 1st Duke of Castel Duino. Son of Prince Alexander of Thurn und Taxis and Princess Marie of Hohenlohe-Waldenburg- Schillingsfürst. In 1923 he moved to Duino castle (Duino, Trieste, Italy) on a permanent basis and changed his family name from von Thurn und Taxis to della Torre e Tasso. He became the first Duke of Castel Duino by grant of Vittorio Emanuele III, King of Italy. Prince Alexander shared with his mother Princess Marie, Rainer Maria Rilke's friend and patroness, a passion for art and poetry.
