Shelled Walnut(s) Association

Scope and Content

This collection forms part of an archive comprising the minutes and related papers of various nut and dried fruit trade associations (MSS.313).

Administrative / Biographical History

The Association was called into being by a committee of distributors, formed in 1940 to allocate any supplies which the Ministry of Food might import. At the 1951 AGM it was decided to keep the Association in being with a nominal subscription. At the 1970 AGM, a decision was taken to amalgamate with the Combined Edible Nut Trade Association (CENTA).

Access Information

This collection is available to researchers by appointment at the Modern Records Centre, University of Warwick. See https://www2.warwick.ac.uk/services/library/mrc/using/

Acquisition Information

These records were deposited with the Centre in March 1992 by the Business Archives Council as a result of the work of its Rescue and Liquidation Support Group. It forms part of a larger archive whose collections form the records of a number of trade associations in the edible nut, dried fruit, spice, rice and wine trades. The associations were linked by a common use of the Port of London, in some cases by a common secretariat, and in others by eventual merger into the same organisation.
