Scope and Content

The records are divided into 4 series as follows:

Diocesan Year Books, issued annually & containing details of diocesan administrative structure, activities and contacts, 1863-[ongoing]
Diocesan Manuals, containing information relating to diocesan procedures and committees. 1945, 1966, 1978
Diocesan Circulars, issued and received by the Diocesan Office relating to its areas of activity, 1966-1984
Diocesan Leaflets, issued monthly (until publication ceased in September 1990) for distribution to congregations containing letter from the Archbishop or one of the other bishops and information relating to activities within the diocese, 1928-1990

Administrative / Biographical History

Diocesan publications ensure that members of the diocesan administration and congregation can have access to information regarding the role of individuals, organisations and committees within the diocese. Most newsletters and other circulars produced for the public domain now appear on the diocesan web site http://www.dioceseofyork.org.uk/
