Comprises: (1) ca. 125 letters concerning a Chaucer edition, mostly from Richard J. Beck to F.W. Bateson, February 1964 - June 1978; (2) Notes and draft text relating to general aspects of proposed Chaucer edition, including: 3 manuscript notebooks; manuscript and typescript notes, photocopies, all with manuscript amendments; (3) Notes and draft text for individual Canterbury Tales, Troilus and Criseyde and The Equatorie of the Planets; (4) 7 printed books and offprints, including: The preamble and tale of the Wife of Bath (ed. R.J. Beck, 1964) and The Manciple's Tale (ed. Donald C. Baker, 1976); (5) 2 copies of The Canterbury Tales (ed. A.C. Cawley, Dent, 1975), removed from bindings with manuscript annotations, incomplete; (6) Notes, draft text and associated correspondence for published editions of Keats (Miriam Allott, 1970), Marvell (Nigel Smith, 2003), Milton (John Carey and Alastair Fowler, 1968), Shelley (Geoffrey Matthews and Kelvin Everest, 1989-2000), Spenser's Faerie Queen (A.C. Hamilton, 1977) and Tennyson (Christopher Ricks, 1969); (7) Notes, draft text and associated correspondence for unpublished editions of Byron and Coleridge.
