Administrative / Biographical History

The Bludworth family of Holt, Hampshire, owned property in the parish of Llangain, Carmarthenshire, during the 18th century. The land, called Llettypenhen, was leased to William David Morris (d. 1785) in 1767, and passed to his wife, Elizabeth, and son, William. William Morris married Sarah Thomas of Greencastle, Carmarthenshire, c. 1808, by which time he owned Llettypenhen. The property was held by the Morris family for the rest of the 19th century; in 1892, David Morris and his sister, Catherine Davies nee Morris resided at Llettypenhen.
