Side one: difficulties with the Japanese language; leaving Tomizama to work at the new Rainbow Hospital in Osaka; a former prostitute working as a nurse at the hospital; the Japanese Government's distrust of interdenominational missions and linking up with the Church of England Church Mission Sociey; an earthquake survivor at the hospital; Janet Dann's illness and recovery from meningitis; a poem: 'Give me Calvary Love'.

Side two: illness on a voyage to England; the outbreak of war and suspension of missionary work in Japan; years spent at the Rowcroft Convalescent Home in Torquay; life as Supervisor of the Women Students at Emmanuel College; recovery from cerebrailis; volunteering to be an escort for sea evacuees and then going to work at the Royal Victoria and West Hants Hospital instead.
