Partly typewritten and partly autograph. Consists of five school exercise books and loose papers containing notes and poetry much of which is connected with the Hughes family, particularly Hughes’s parents. A red exercise book contains notes about Hughes’s father and a passage written after someone’s death, perhaps his father's. One of the exercise books contains prose notes about subjects mentioned in the poetry collection and loose leaf drafts of the collection’s contents are included. Many of the poems are unpublished, whilst ‘Glimpse’ was published later as ‘Uncollected (1987-1989)’ in Ted Hughes Collected Poems. A diary entry written about visiting his father in hospital dated 10th May 1980; notes on Elmet and a copy of The Pennine Walls by Arthur Raistrick (1978) are also included.
This folder contains some undated material.
