Partly typewritten and printed, partly autograph papers sent to Hughes in connection with the publication of a collection of Yehuda Amichai's poetry in English. Poems included are mainly in English though some are in Hebrew and German. Hughes worked on the publication of Amichai in English with Daniel Weissbort.
Add MS 88918/18/1 contains letters and faxes to Hughes from Daniel Weissbort and a letter from Faber and Faber relating to the publication of Amichai in English, translations of Amichai’s poetry by Tudor Parfitt and two copies of an article about Amichai by Weissbort. The folder also contains copies of poetry for possible inclusion in the published collection. Add MS 88918/18/2 and Add MS 88918/18/3 contain copies of Amichai’s poems, some of which are annotated along with letters and faxes about the project from Weissbort. Add MS 88918/18/4 contains a short story, ‘Love in Reverse’ and a radio play, ‘The Day Martin Buber Was Buried’ sent to Ted and Carol Hughes by Amichai, a copy of Modern Hebrew Literature (18 New Series, Spring/Summer 1997) and draft copy of ‘Yehuda Amichai Selected Poems’. One copy of an article about Amichai by Weissbort and translations of some of his poetry sent by Tudor Parfitt were among papers on Hughes' worktable when he died.
