Scope and Content

Autograph notebooks containing notes on different subjects including historical figures; list of some of Hughes's poems, notes relating to The Iron Woman, What is the Truth? A Farmyard Fable for the Young, Shakespeare and the Goddess of Complete Being and poems from Raincharm for the Duchy, names, addresses and telephone numbers and an account of David Farrar's funeral in 1994 (he was a cousin of Hughes). Diary accounts of trips made to Egypt (November 1984), to Bangladesh (November 1989); to Canada (on fishing trip in August 1987) and on a fishing trip in May 1991 are also included. Notes about a fitness regime, which appear to have been written by Nicholas Hughes are included on one of the notebooks. A former school exercise book contains diary accounts of meetings of the Taw Riparian Owners and other aspects of Hughes's involvement with environmental work as well as notes on fine screening sewage.
