These documents were given to Oxfordshire Archives in two instalments. The first, consisting only of P207/J/1, was given by Miss Reeves in 1988, and assigned the Accession Number 2751; the rest of the collection was bequeathed to the Archives by her in 1993 and given the Accession Number 3671.
Sybil Irene Reeves (1900-1993) lived at Henley-on-Thames all her life, working for Barclays Bank. Her father, George William Reeves, was a corn merchant and played a prominent part in Henley life, being involved in its Rowing Club, and spending several years on the Town Council. Miss Reeves had a sister, Margaret Evelyn, who spent many years in Africa as a missionary.
The papers consist of two albums of newspaper cuttings, and five of photographs (the latter also contain postcards and family letters). The cuttings and photographs contain much of interest concerning life at Henley c.1880-1935, and were probably mostly the work of George Reeves.
Catalogued in October 1995 by Robin Darwall-Smith.
