Ross visited Ceylon under the auspices of the Ceylon Association in London who paid the expenses of the visit. The object of the visit was to help to organise a campaign against malaria by means of a co-operatie scheme formed by the plantation companies in Ceylon. Ross left Britain in December 1925, returning in February 1926.
