Administrative / Biographical History

The Park Theatre, Glasgow, Scotland, was founded in 1940 by John Stewart (d. 1957). The company performed at 13 Woodside Terrace, Glasgow, next door to where the Curtain Theatre had been. John Stewart was proprietor and director and Kenneth Ireland (1920-1999) was general manager. The Park Theatre was run as a theatre club with members able to attend performances. After the closure of the Park in 1949 , John Stewart went on to found the Pitlochry Festival Theatre.
