Exchange of letters with Dennis Flanagan, editor of Scientific American, asks if he would consider writing article for the magazine on "Can a machine think?"; in reply of 3 February, Turing agrees to do this but feels "would not contain any essentially new material as I have not been doing any research on this problem". He encloses a copy of this Third Programme talk, and says could be similar to this. In his reply of 17 March Flanagan feels the radio talk is "too popular" ; In his reply of 24 May Turing agrees, saying he had only sent it for comparison; he thinks it may take two-three months to write the article [in the event, Turing did not write this article].
