72/1 Notes and papers of Robert Aitken on Spanish tectonics, 1950s-60s. Letter to Aitken from Gerald Brennan, n.d. 72/2 Volume, compiled by Penelope Biddulph, 1827, found among the Hartley papers, containing (i) a copy of an untitled play or a novel in Italian (ii) copies, in Spanish, of letters from Penelope Biddulph, Mary Anna Biddulph, Eleanora Lawrence and Ormus Biddulph to Maria del Carmen Sardi y Valasco, largely on family matters, but with a 'liberal' view of Spanish politics, together with copies of a number of Spanish poems including 'El himno de Riego', n.d. 1823-1827 72/3 Notes and working papers of Cecil Biggane (d. 1964) (editor and translator of Memoirs of the Marquise de la Rochejaquelein (London, 1933)), for an unpublished history of the Vendean revolt, 1930s 72/4 Working papers of Frank Cottrill (curator of Winchester City Museum, 1947-73) on eighteenth and nineteenth century translations of Virgil in English public and parochial libraries 72/5 Two typescript volumes of an unpublished novel, 'Partly prig', by Maude S.Forsey, sister of George Frank Forsey, Professor of Classics at the University of Southampton, 1945 72/6 Working papers of John Wesley Horrocks, lecturer in history at University College, Southampton, 1914-20s, with notes on Jane Austen and local history, together with thirteen notebooks, notes mainly in shorthand and the manuscript of a thesis on Macchiavelli. 72/7 Working papers of Sydney L.Bath James, with correspondence, notes and photographs for 'The reredos of Christchurch Priory', late 1950s - mid 1960s 72/8 Working papers of Professor Harry Rothwell, Professor of History and Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Southampton: manuscript notes, transcripts, index cards, photocopies of cartularies, maps and papers about a projected historical geography of Hampshire.
