British Armorial

Archive Collection

Scope and Content

The armorial contains emblazoned coats of arms of English, Scottish and Irish peers and bishops. Two indexes, one an alphabetical index of surnames and the other an index of titles, were added at a later date at the beginning of the volume. At the top of the first folio of the manuscript after the two indexes is written the date 1726, perhaps indicating that this was the year of creation. A label on the front cover is annotated '157 Pages of Coats of Arms Blazoned with an Index'.
