Scope and Content

Records, mainly minutes, 1878-1958, being those of the Bicycle Union, 1878-1883, and afterwards as the National Cyclists' Union from 1883-1958.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Bicycle Union was formed in 1878. It amalgamated with the Tricycle Association in 1882, and in 1883 was re-named the National Cyclists' Union. In 1959 the National Cyclists'Union amalgamated with the British League of Racing Cyclists to become the British Cycling Federation.

Acquisition Information

The archive of the British Cycling Federation was deposited in the Centre by the National Cycle Archive in November 1994.
