Letter: Johnny Parry, 108 Botany Street, Moor Park, Sydney

Scope and Content

LETTER: Johnny Parry, 108 Botany Street, Moor Park, Sydney to his mother apologising for the long delay in writing. He was pleased to receive letters from his sisters ellie and Maggie and Miss Hemrood. He would enjoy being with them all on Christmas day to eat the goose and laugh with them around the cheerful fire and festive table. He recalls Christmas 1872 when hs father met with an accident and how sad they all were. He thanks God for his father's love and care towards them and for the way his mother has always provided them with a happy home. He sent £5 for them in November for a Christmas present and asks them to inform him when they receive it. He would like to be able to run over for a cup of cider although he doesn't drink anything stronger than tea. He has travelled quite a bit lately and had his expenses paid by his employers. He was pleased to hear Maggie had been to Wales on holiday. He sends his regards to several friends. Some papers have reached him and he looked for Tom's name for shooting.
