Scope and Content

LETTER: Henry D. Read, 17 Upper North Street, Brighton, Sussex to his uncle [Capt. John Owen]. They are all pleased to hear of his uncle's safe arrival at Rotterdam after such an unfavourable voyage. He is now managing a small office. The change should be good for his health. Jane [his wife] and children are still in London, but he hopes to have them with him in March. Mary Jane and little Willie are well, and so is Nain, but Ned is very ill. Mary Jane spent some time in Pen yr Argae during the summer. He goes to London every five or six weeks to see his family.
