Photographs of European Architecture

Scope and Content

Nineteenth century photographs of buildings from various European countries. These include a large collection from Italy and Greece, and a few from France, Germany, the UK and Ireland. There is one image from the USA. The photographs focus on Classical, Renaissance and Neo-Classical styles.

Administrative / Biographical History

Images produced by various publishers, including Alinari, who are a photographic firm and publish various images of Italy. Most likely these images were used for teaching purposes in the School of Architecture.

Open for general access. External researchers are advised to make an appointment with the Archivist.
