Administrative / Biographical History

Edward Jones & Son is a firm of solicitors in Blaenau Ffestiniog, Merionethshire. The firm appears to have been a successor to R. O. Jones & Davies, Solicitors, headed by Robert Owen Jones (fl. 1882-1912). That partnership was dissolved in 1911. The firms' client base was mainly in Blaenau Ffestiniog and surrounding areas. Edward Jones (fl. 1911-1950) and Henry Evans Jones (fl. [1933]-1976) acted as Clerks to Ffestiniog Urban District Council, Ffestiniog School Board and the Governors of Ffestiniog County School. Edward Jones was Steward of the Wesleyan Methodist Circuit, Blaenau Ffestiniog. H. Evans Jones was the Liberal candidate for Merionethshire in the 1955 General Election, and was County Commissioner of the St John Ambulance Brigade, Merionethshire.
