Administrative / Biographical History
Coventry Precision Ltd. (formerly Coventry Repetition Ltd.) was acquired by the Dowty Group in 1951. Coventry Precision was a sub-contractor. In its machine shops components for other Dowty companies were manufactured. the Dowty Group was particularly associated with the production of aircraft landing gear, but in the post-war period diversified into marine and mining engineering and other fields. Coventry Precision is still in business at Exhall near Coventry. It moved from Earlsdon in 1961.

Custodial History
The records of the Coventry Precision Shop Stewards' Committee were acquired by the Industrial Relations Research Unit in about 1973 and transferred to the Modern Records Centre in 1988.
