Scope and Content

Collection consists of newscuttings and articles by and about Eileen Power, photographs, drawings and illutrations, commonplace books, letters to Margery Spring Rice 1910-1931, letters to Michael Postan 1924-1926 and her obituaries, 1940.

Administrative / Biographical History

After study at the London School of Economics, she returned to Girton as a Pfeiffer Research Fellow 1915-1918. She was Director of Studies in History at Girton 1913-1921, Lecturer 1921-1924, Reader 1924-1931. She was appointed Professor of Economic History at the London School of Economics in 1931, a position she held until her death in 1940. She lectured and published widely. In 1937, she married Michael (Munia) Postan, Professor of Economic History, University of Cambridge.
