Administrative / Biographical History

P Webster Cory farmed Manor Farm, Notgrove, Gloucestershire from 1916 to the 1940s. Despite the thin limestone soil of the Cotswolds and appreciable losses in the 1930s, Cory persevered and achieved constant profit throughout the depression and two world wars. Calculating that the interdependent department system of farming was causing financial uncertainty, he established separate sections for sheep, pigs, poultry and dairy farming.
