Scope and Content

Contains: "Rout [sic] of the road from Madras to Anjengo", with notes of military interest; "Route of the Detachment commanded by Capt Robert Jackson from Camp East of Bearah", 1782, with notes of military interest; "Circumstances attending Lieut Col Jackson's obeying the Orders of his Commander in Chief when on active Service disapproved by the Honble the President and Council of Bombay Whose general Order reprobating the Col's Conduct is here Annexed", and also a note approving of Jackson's conduct, 1783; calculation of the daily expenses of a private soldier, 1783; extract copied from Lloyd's Evening Post, 15 Mar 1776, concerning the government of Bombay; address of Lt Col Mathw Leslie to the directors of the East India Company; envelopes and notes which originally accompanied these and others of Jackson's papers.

Arrangement

It seems that Jackson himself arranged many of his papers, since the notes and envelopes in JACK/2/3/5/7 are in his hand; this arrangement has been altered only where it is incomplete.
