Scope and Content

DEPOSITION: John Jones of Penmynydd parish Bodedern who is a servant to Thomas Owen. On Nov. 13 he was returning home at 6 o clock in the morning and saw William Owen in his masters rick yard with a bundle of hay on his back. John Jones spoke to William Owen then went to bed and told his fellow servant, John Roberts, that he had caught a thief. William Owen says John Jones had the hay on his back.

DEPOSITION: Thomas Owen, master at Penmynydd, stating that he was told of the theft.DEPOSITION: John Roberts, servant at Penmynydd, a fodderer in charge of cutting and carrying the hay from the stack. That he thatched the stack on Saturday night and he is sure that more had been cut on Sunday morning.

Enclosed:Prisoners Examination: William Owen says he was out collecting fire wood and passed by the rick yard. He spoke to John Jones. He keeps a cow but bought hay from Mr. Powell for her.
