Views of Bryn y Neuadd, Llanfairfechan

Scope and Content

The mansion was bought by John Platt in 1857. He greatly extended it and added to its demesne, creating an elegant North Wales estate. After JP's sudden death in 1872, the house was lived in by his son Sydney Platt. Mrs Sydney Platt apparently did not take to Bryn-y-Neuadd and it was offered for sale in the mid-1870s. However, the Sydney Platt's lived there until the mid-1880s, when it was sold to become a convalescent home to St Andrew's Hospital, Northampton.
