Administrative / Biographical History

This collection features property located mainly in the parishes of Erbistock, Eglwys-bach, Llansanffraid Glan Conwy and Llanelidan, Denbighshire, north Wales. The historic county of Denbighshire was abolished in the local government reorganisation of 1974, and absorbed into the newly created county of Clwyd. Clwyd was abolished in 1996 and four new authorities were created, known as Denbighshire, Flintshire, Wrexham County Borough and Conwy County Borough. The boundaries of the newly created Denbighshire and Flintshire were different from those of the historic counties of the same names. Material in this collection refers to parishes in the historic county of Denbighshire, that is, as it was constituted before 1974.
