Spiral-bound notebook labelled in Leon Garfield's hand 'Empty Sleeve'. The notebook contains manuscript fragments for 'The Empty Sleeve' (Viking Kestrel, 1988), including fragments of chapters 4, 7, 8, 14 and 19. The notebook also contains very brief notes on the plot development.
This notebook was not tied together with the other four notebooks labelled 'The Empty Sleeve' (LG/01/10/01-04) at the time of deposit, and this separation has been maintained here despite the overlap in content.
