Scope and Content

Research notebook compiled by Robert Barnes pertaining to dystocia, or difficult childbirth labours, and containing drawings, letters, journal articles, and notes on the works and cases of other medical men (1805-1884). Topics include unusual circumstances during birth such as the death of the child in utero, hydrocephalus, locked twins, tumours of the uterus and cervix, and the age of the mother in relation to dystocia.
