Robert Barnes: Notebook, Neo-Natal Asphyxia

Scope and Content

Research notebook compiled by Robert Barnes on neo-natal asphyxia and containing an extensive amount of journal articles, letters, drawings, and notes on the works and cases of other medical men (1834-1884). Topics include the characteristics of respiration, multiple causes of asphyxia, the influence of asphyxia on mental state later in life, atelectasis, still birth statistics, jaundice during pregnancy, and Barnes' views on compulsory birth registration.
