TS correspondence from Alan Samson to Spike Milligan

Scope and Content

Two TS letters from Alan Samson of Macmillan Publishers to Spike Milligan, both on the headed paper of Macmillan London Ltd. The first letter, dated the 1st October 1984, refers to enclosed illustrations from Tracey Boyd, and how many of these in total Milligan will ultimately receive. Apologises for being unable to send them all at the same time. The second letter is dated the 20th September 1984 and refers to enclosed copies of Milligan’s verses to accompany Boyd’s illustrations. States that Boyd intends to make 33 drawings in total and the general timescale of their completion. Mentions the possibility of Boyd and Milligan meeting and suggests ‘L’Escargot’ as a possiblity, referring to Jack Hobbs playing there. MS annotations by Milligan on the second letter, including a doodle of the outline of a mermaid. Stapled with one leaf of Item 3, and Item 5.
