Scope and Content

MS illustration in blue and black pen, coloured with colouring pencils. It depicts three tanks, one in the foreground on a path and the other two in the background. The trees and rural landscape are drawn and coloured in some detail. MS labels in black ink: ‘BATTERY’S GUNS BEHIND TREES’, with an arrow pointing to trees in the background, and ‘AMERICAN BATTERY’, with an arrow pointing to the tank on the right hand side of the paper. MS caption underneath: ‘THE FIASCO POSITION ORDERED OUT OF ACTION – […] OUT BY YANK BULL-DOZERS’. On the reverse at the top, MS annotation: ‘Edgington Crayon masterpiece 30 years on’ (the last two words covered with tape but still visible). Further MS annotations: ‘126’ in red in the top right hand corner and ‘25’, in pencil and circled in the bottom right hand corner. The reverse side also shows that the paper used has been taken from the front page of a notepad and has been cut to the size of the illustration.
