Administrative / Biographical History

North Travancore Land Planting & Agricultural Society Ltd, was established in  1879  to purchase or otherwise acquire land for development and cultivation in  North Travancore, India. The company sold extensive lands to  Consolidated Tea & Lands Co Ltd, tea planters,  Edinburgh, Scotland, and in  1897 , to  Kanan Devan Hills Produce Co Ltd, tea planters,  Glasgow, Scotland, both subsidiaries of  James Finlay & Co Ltd, textile manufacturers, tea planters, and merchants,  Glasgow, Scotland. In  1896 ,  Patrick Buchanan, founder of  P R Buchanan & Co Ltd, tea planters,  London, England, bought shares in  North Travancore Land Planting & Agricultural Society Ltd. The company was still trading in the  late 1890s .
