From Scotland to York. Told Dr Buchan that Eliza was author of 'Woodcroft'; he was surprised and most impressed and wished he had seen more of her. Becoming very friendly with Buchans and particularly the doctor; feels very much drawn to Auchinblae. Mrs Buchan saddened by children's death and talked confidentially about it. Had interesting talks for Dr. Buchan but 'never had the courage to tell him about our Methodism. Wishes they were members of Established Church; feels as if 'we bore the brand of illegitimacy when we get among Establishment people'.
