Children spend pocket money on wool for mittens for the poor and also go without sugar for the same purpose. Prefers new garden with new wall and less space. Joined a Shakespeare Society, to read 'As you Like it'. Dr. Haynes has seen Noel, as worried about his health. Thinks he might outgrow weakness but should take cod liver oil and not go away to school yet. Fears that mother's illness may make it impossible for her to leave her and go to India again. Thinks he would enjoy Malvern but not to settle permanently; 'church atmosphere would not suit you'.
