Scope and Content

From Malvern to her husband en route to India. Staring letter early as Mrs Williams and others will come to tea next day. Mr Newbolt mentioned how ell Lilian and Mabel were getting on with their lessons. They have been with Noel to dine with Miss Bromley. She mentioned a Mr. Hewett, who used to be in Darjeeling, heard John preach at Abbey and would have liked to speak to him, but was not quite sure it was he. Alethea sent £5. in letter to Lilian, with one to Frank for her to post - overweight, so 5d. was due. Lilian forgot to post the letter and had to be reminded, though Eliza deliberately left her time in the hope that she would remember herself. Noel happier now with his lessons; thinks Mr Douglas has praised him. Worried that he has fallen and broken a front tooth. About half story finished; hopes to complete it by mid Mar. Another sheet added after arrival of Italian photographs. Mentions again particular interest in St. Ambrose's church, Milan; impressed by story that Bishop Ambrose refused admission to Emperor Theodosius because he had allowed people to die in an unjust war.
