To her mother from Allahabad. Hot weather started, but about a month later than previous year. Mentions recollections of Harriet Martineau. 'I should not think ... that she would be a very pleasant person to get on with... She had a very forbidding expression'. Subscriptions being arranged for Mrs Farrell's children, to send them to their aunt in Germany and provide clothes for them. Invited to go away for hot weather, but foes not like to leave for so long, hopes perhaps they will get leave and both go away for a month during the rains (End of letter missing)
