Administrative / Biographical History

The Keene family were originally from Tunbridge Wells, Kent. In 1863, Alfred Thomas Keene (c. 1840-1904) entered into partnership with solicitors Arthur Troughton Roberts and Thomas Thelwell Kelly of Mold, Flintshire. The practice dealt mainly with properties in Flintshire and Denbighshire, including a number of large estates in northeast Wales (Grosvenor (Halkyn), Leeswood, Wigfair and Coed Du). The practice continued into the 20th century, becoming Keene and Kelly, Solicitors, Mold, and now Keene & Kelly & Keith Williams & Co.
