Parish papers relating to poor relief, settlement and removal etc. 

• Examination of Ellis Roberts of Llandegai, 21 February 1824
• Case submitted to legal counsel by Llandegai parish overseers of the poor relating to the practice of bringing about marriages of female paupers by bribery and threats, 16 March 1824
• Llandegai parish book or upper journal containing accounts of payments of weekly allowances relief, clothes and meals, etc. to the poor of the parish; also overseers accounts, 1821-1823

The parish of Llandegai, situated in Gwynedd (formerly the county of Caernarfonshire), north Wales, was, in common with other parishes, a major instrument of local government until reforms in the late nineteenth century. The parish, represented by a selection of members known as the vestry, had responsibility for public welfare including poor relief, appointment of overseers of the poor, law and order and maintenance of highways, etc. In 1894 parish government was reconstructed which left vestries with limited powers such as the election of churchwardens and administration of charities.
