Scope and Content

Lady Clark's file of correspondence and related papers regarding the Government's British Restaurants scheme. She was involved with the decoration of the restaurants, both in commissioning murals and in lending works. The scheme was operated by the British Institute for Adult Education. Includes correspondence with William Emrys Williams of the War Office. Lady Clark resigned in July 1943, but continued her association with the BIAE via the Churchill Club; subsequent letters concern loans from the Clark's own collection to British Restaurants. Includes black and white photograph of a mural design by John Piper
