Scope and Content

(1) Original birth certificate of Maria Coulthard (née Hudson Taylor) - Maria was born in the district of Ningpo [Ningbo] on the 3 Feb 1867 (birth certificate was certified in 1884);

(2) Marriage certificate of Maria Coulthard, daughter of Maria and James Hudson Taylor of the China Inland Mission, who married John Joseph Coulthard on 10 May 1888 in Kiukiang [Jiujiang].

(3) "The Poetical Works of John Milton" - The "Albion" Edition (1891) with annotation on front inside cover: 'From Amy Hudson Taylor to E.M. Coulthard 1941'.

Administrative / Biographical History

Of Maria's and James Hudson Taylor's nine children, three died at birth and two in childhood. The four who reached adulthood all later became missionaries with the China Inland Mission. In 1897 Hudson's & Maria's only surviving daughter, Maria Hudson Taylor, the wife of John Joseph Coulthard, died in Wenzhou. [Source: Wikipedia]

Note that Amy Hudson Taylor was the daughter of James Hudson Taylor and his second wife, Jane Elizabeth Faulding.
